About The Position

Works to develop, implement and deliver injury prevention programs. Provides an organized, comprehensive approach for educating healthcare professionals, patients, families and the community in a variety of settings both on campus and in the community on injury prevention.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years' experience in community health promotion and/or injury prevention or related
  • Proof of motor vehicle liability insurance that meets minimum state requirements upon hire and upon request.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Driving Record - Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Driver License - State of Issuance
  • Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) - Safe Kids Worldwide
  • Must have CPST certification or obtain within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes patient access to useful, trustworthy information and resources for all socioeconomic and education levels related to injury prevention of all risk areas. These risk areas include, but not limited to, water, fire, falls, firearm, vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian safety.
  • Functions as Child Passenger Safety Technician both on campus and in the community with emphasis on public safety partners if applicable to the ministry.
  • Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of all projects assigned in collaboration with the Trauma and Injury Prevention teams.
  • Records all activities and evaluation information in the appropriate documentation format for the specific risk area, which may include required reports and funder requests. Updates these activities as needed.
  • Attends and participates in seminars, in-service education and conferences as appropriate.
  • Integrates safety systems into all aspects of service operations.
  • Safely operates injury prevention vehicle on a daily basis and car seat education trailer as needed if applicable to the ministry.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
