General Purpose of Job: Must demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate injury prevention information to families with children. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess needs of the family in regard to each child’s unique situation. Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines. Must have own reliable vehicle for daily travel. Able to work at least two Saturdays a week and some evenings. Employee will offset in the same week. Must have basic computer competency in Microsoft programs. Works collaboratively with the community to participate in assessment and planning of potential injury prevention programs. Assists with program implementation and evaluation. Acts as a resource and leader in injury prevention efforts within community and region. Seeks out and participates in established local injury prevention groups such as Nueces County Safe Kids Coalition, Coastal Bend Regional Advisory Council, and others. Researches opportunities to initiate new injury prevention programs. Maintain liaisons with the Corpus Christi Police Department, Nueces County Sheriff’s Office, Nueces County Health Department, Texas Department State Health Services, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Transportation, Child Fatality Review Team, and others. Assists with ordering of program resources. Works collaboratively with Trauma Registrar to access data for analysis of potential needs for injury prevention. Participates and provides community presentations. Assists with staffing of information/safety booths during health fairs and community events. Assists with development and design of brochures, pamphlets, and fact sheets as necessary. Obtains Child Passenger Safety Technician certification within six months of hire and remains current. Works collaboratively with Injury Prevention Coordinator and Trauma Manager for grant opportunities. Behavioral Expectations Customer Service – Enthusiastically interacts with all customers. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University preferred; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Child Passenger Safety Technician certification within six months of hire. Must retain current certification. Until all children are well.
