About The Position

The Injury Prevention & Outreach Specialist is responsible for overall planning, development, evaluation, and oversight of trauma prevention, education, and outreach programs for trauma services. Facilitates communication that directly impacts injury prevention efforts throughout the community. Provides a foundation to evaluate the needs of the community in regards to injury prevention through the use of the trauma registry data and local/state statistics.

Requirements

  • Four year college degree
  • Three years of experience as a registered nurse, or in a health promotion or injury prevention role

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an expert leader for injury prevention for the community and ThedaCare facilities in accordance with applicable governing bodies.
  • Evaluates trauma registry data to determine future injury prevention initiatives or needs as required by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates effectiveness of injury prevention initiatives to ensure optimal impact.
  • Coordinates aspects of the in-house educational offering “Trauma Team Education Series” to provide interactive education to the clinical teams caring for injured patients.
  • Actively participates in the Regional Trauma Advisory Council (RTAC) as a leader in prevention efforts and expert in community and state ongoing needs assessment.
  • Responds quickly to spikes in a specific injury related situation within the community and creates an educational plan to provide preventative information.
