The Injection Molding Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting injection molding machines and related equipment to produce quality plastic parts safely, efficiently, and in accordance with production and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Plastics Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred and a minimum of 3 years experience; equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on injection molding experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Working knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, and machine operation.
  • Mold setup and changeover experience
  • Familiarity with scientific molding principles
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, process sheets, and basic blueprints
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment

  • Electric molding machining experience

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor injection molding machines to meet production requirements
  • Perform mold changes such as proper installation, connection of utilities, and startup verification
  • Adjust machine settings such as temperatures, pressures, cycle times, and cooling parameters to maintain part quality and process stability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve molding defects including short shots, flash, sink marks, warpage, and surface defects
  • Conduct in-process inspections using measuring tools and visual checks to ensure parts meet specifications
  • Document process parameters, changes, and production issues as required
  • Participate in performing routine preventive maintenance on machines and molds and report mechanical or process issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with safety and 5S standards
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper use of PPE
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality, maintenance, and engineering to support production goals
