About The Position

The Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for setting up and operating injection molding machines, ensuring that production meets quality standards. This role involves building family molds, starting presses, and maintaining complex machinery to achieve departmental efficiency. The technician will read and interpret process prints and quality instructions, notify quality control of any out-of-spec parts, and record data for statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance. The position requires handling and mixing materials, maintaining cleanliness of machines and molds, and recognizing defective tooling or machine malfunctions. Additionally, the technician will operate cranes and forklifts, complete daily 5S duties, and assist in training new employees.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• 3 years documented work history as an Injection Mold Process Technician
• Ability to use basic shop math
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Effective communication skills with team members
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of English language structure and content
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read and interpret paperwork with high accuracy
• Ability to satisfactorily complete testing for operation of forklift and other equipment

Responsibilities

• Build family molds
• Set molds in the press and start the press
• Maintain complex machines to department efficiency averages
• Read and interpret process prints and quality information instructions
• Notify Quality of any out of spec parts
• Record data on computers for SPC and quality assurance
• Produce and inspect finished parts using various measuring tools
• Handle and mix materials
• Keep machines and molds clean
• Recognize defective tooling and machine malfunctions
• Plan and perform setups and operations within recognized procedures
• Operate crane, forklift, and other handling equipment according to OSHA specifications
• Complete daily 5S duties including trash removal
• Train and assist trainees throughout their training period
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management
