Job Title: Injection Molding Operator Level 3 Shift/Hours: 3rd Shift - 10:30pm - 6:45am Department/Group: Injection Molding Location: Kulpsville, PA Position Type: KV Union Job Family: Grade 11 Reports to: Supervisor Position Purpose Summary – Operates various equipment and performs duties related to the goals of the injection molding department. All the following functions will be performed to maintain optimum cycle times and production rates consistent with GT’s quality standards. Job Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Comply with all federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations as well as any safety policies and protocols outlined by the company. This position will set up, start up and operate multiple injection molding machines at a rapid pace and high level of quality. This operator will set up, start up and make on going machine changes, as required for Level 1 operators including mold changes and material changes. This operator will also make or verify on going changes, as required for level 2 operators. Load, unload and clean hoppers and loaders. Run all Injection Molding equipment within the department Operate trimming, de-gating, drilling machines, as required. This includes the lathes. Maintain in process inventory and material handling. Perform assembly of components, as needed. Perform in process inspection of components, as required. Use proper measuring equipment such as, gauges, micrometers, comparator, automatic electronic measuring devices and other measuring equipment, as required. Load and unload ovens, as required. Count parts as required. (using scale, if necessary). Set up and operate X-ray testing equipment, as required. Record all Information on GT data collection system as required. Label parts as required by the warehouse. Transport work in process and finished goods to warehouses and within the department, as necessary. Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor/chargehand including active participation in team meetings for operational planning and improvement ideas. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain good housekeeping in work areas. Ability to read and understand blueprints, as required for inspection Must have the ability to read, understand and perform the work instructions in all operations Must have ability to operate material handling devices (fork truck, walk behind lift, etc.) TPM, monitor and add lubrication as necessary to maintain appropriate levels. Does not include hydraulic oils. Change temperature controller fuses, nozzle tips, oil hoses, water hoses and thermocouples. Attach plugs to heater bands and thermocouples. Clean and replace designated process filters as required. Operators must fulfill training requirements before doings these tasks. Perform job in compliance with company’s Quality Policy (ISO 9000 and AS9100). Maintain part quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate proficiency upon completion of up to 30 working day trial training and evaluation period (may be ongoing until achievement is met).
  • Must be proficient with operating a workstation computer including searching, saving and editing files and with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Requires the ability to read and interpret work orders, product specifications, work instructions and other related product information.
  • Must have basic math skills and be able to maintain daily record of production, defects, down time, etc.
  • Must have a minimum of two years’ experience as an Injection Molding Operator Level 2 or equivalent external experience as determined by Greene, Tweed Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently read and interpret production drawings, work instructions, Company documents and other specified requirements essential for performing standard job functions
  • Ability to work in positions requiring sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, grasping, stooping, climbing ladders, kneeling and heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. without the use of mechanical lifting devices or help from others.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, eye protection, gloves and arm guards.
  • This position requires U.S. Person status as defined by applicable law for authorized access to data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, lawful permanent residents, and workers granted refugee or asylum status in the United States.
