About The Position

The Injection Molding Leader is responsible for leading daily operations within the injection molding department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role provides hands-on leadership to molding technicians, manages machine setups and changeovers, troubleshoots equipment and tooling issues, and collaborates with engineering, maintenance, and quality teams. The ideal candidate has strong injection molding expertise, leadership skills, and experience in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in injection molding operations; leadership or lead technician experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding processes, tooling, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine, tooling, and process issues quickly and effectively.
  • Experience with mold setup, changeovers, and machine parameter adjustments.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, process sheets, and specifications.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in injection molding preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and support injection molding technicians and operators on all shifts.
  • Oversee daily molding operations, ensuring production schedules are met with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Perform and/or supervise mold setups, changeovers, start-ups, and shutdowns.
  • Troubleshoot molding equipment, tooling, and process issues, adjusting parameters as needed to maintain optimal performance.
  • Ensure proper use, handling, and storage of molds, components, and materials.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to coordinate machine repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to support new tooling trials, sample runs, and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate production and downtime records, reporting issues promptly.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, process stability, and productivity gains.
  • Monitor inventory of molding materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Support training and development of team members to improve skills and operational knowledge.
