About The Position

The Supplier Quality Engineer at GE Vernova's Hydro Power North America division is responsible for ensuring the quality of components from suppliers. This role integrates and develops processes that meet business needs, manages complex issues, and contributes to long-term planning and overall business strategy. The position plays a crucial role in addressing the climate crisis by supporting the transition to sustainable energy through effective supplier management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience/knowledge).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering with hydro-mechanical products or similar.
  • Fluency in French and English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as needed.

  • Audit/NDE/NACE certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier activities to ensure the quality of assigned product components.
  • Act as the technical focal point to coordinate sourcing, design, and materials functions while interfacing with suppliers.
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to quality procedures and specification requirements.
  • Be fully responsible for quality and technical subjects from order to delivery.
  • Manage a supplier panel of up to 30 suppliers (potentially more for regional products).
  • Approve suppliers and select them based on eligibility criteria.
  • Manage supplier qualifications as needed to ensure they have the capabilities and processes to deliver high-quality products.
  • Drive compliance/maturity audits (EHS, manufacturing processes, inspection processes) to ensure suppliers have effective process controls and robust quality systems.
  • Conduct risk analysis (supplier/product) and propose mitigation plans.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers to ensure product/process compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier quality, cycle, and delivery performance.
  • Manage non-conformance and deviation activities from suppliers.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Conduct process capability analysis for critical quality characteristics (CTQ) and work with suppliers to improve process capability.
  • Support supply quality and cost initiatives and lead cross-functional initiatives to improve part quality.
