About The Position

VIC the PICC (VTP) is a specialized healthcare provider offering vascular access consulting services to acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare. They provide vascular access device insertion, post-access support (declotting, line removal, port access, troubleshooting), and continuing education. VTP operates on-site and mobile services across the Western and Southern United States, focusing on innovative, affordable, and client-satisfaction-driven services. As an Infusion Nurse, you will deliver high-quality infusion therapy across various care settings, including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, LTACs, outpatient centers, and homes. This involves managing infusion treatments with vascular access devices, ensuring safe and effective nursing care, educating patients and caregivers, monitoring patient responses, and troubleshooting complications. This is a Part Time position consisting of four 5-hour shifts per week, with shifts starting at 7:00 PM PST.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current license
  • Current CPR Certification
  • American Heart BLS Certification
  • Prior experience with infusion therapy, with exposure to IV medication administration and hydration.
  • Strong knowledge of vascular access devices, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and fulfill scheduling requirements as indicated by job classification
  • Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation for travel to patient sites
  • Must possess a smart phone
  • Must LOVE Infusion Therapy

Nice To Haves

  • Ultrasound guided PIV experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in acute care

Responsibilities

  • Administer a broad range of infusion therapies according to physician orders, including IV medications, and hydration.
  • Provide one-on-one infusion nursing care and patient education.
  • Monitor patients for infusion reactions, intolerance, or complications.
  • Adjust infusion rates as ordered and troubleshoot infusion pumps.
  • Perform flushing, dressing assessment, and routine maintenance of lines while ensuring line integrity.
  • Accurately document all infusion activities, assessments, and patient teaching.
  • Report concerns about line integrity or complications to the appropriate provider.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapy expectations and post-infusion care.
  • Travel to multiple patient sites while following safety and infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and effective patient outcomes.
  • Periodically support additional clinical duties, including peripheral IV placement, PICC and CVC declotting and troubleshooting, PICC and midline care, IV pump support, and education of nursing staff on vascular access devices.
