About The Position

The Infusion RN - Per Diem manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through the nursing process and principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The role provides age-appropriate care from the age of 8 years old through the geriatric patient based on the population served. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team, demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and meet the individual needs of all patients served.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current Nevada RN license.
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Professional customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English; bilingual abilities preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • ONS/ONCC Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate or willing to complete within 6 months.
  • Two (2) years minimum nursing experience preferred.
  • Previous Infusion nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • Performs admission assessment upon admission or in accordance with specific unit standards.
  • Identifies and documents patient needs and treatment plan upon admission.
  • Identifies patients requiring IV therapy who are high risk and will require long-term therapy or have other critical IV-related needs.
  • Identifies and documents patient/family/significant other teaching needs relative to IV therapy upon admission and as needed.
  • Assists with telemedicine including the use of connected electronic tools to assist provider with assessment.
  • Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic treatment plan for each patient in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other.
  • Develops a preliminary plan for meeting IV therapy needs of the identified patient, including those with special needs.
  • Collaborates with the physician to ensure the treatment is implemented and carried out successfully.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical treatment plan, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and the patient's response to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
