About The Position

The Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing compassionate, extraordinary care to patients of the Ambulatory Infusion Center (AIC) through administration of intravenous infusions and subcutaneous injections. Collaborates closely with the multidisciplinary patient care team, exhibiting strong communication, thorough documentation, and exemplary patient care. Advocates for the patient, provides individualized care according to the treatment plan, and achieves best-in-class patient satisfaction. The RN is highly motivated, accountable, and can care for multiple patients concurrently, in addition to completing other operational tasks as required.

Requirements

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of [ ].
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
At least two years of RN experience in infusion, PACU, or other procedural area required.
Collaborates with internal and external customers to promote quality care and customer service.
Capable of working both independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrates critical thinking in identifying, assessing, and responding to issues within the AIC.
Ability to multi-task and organize workload for efficient use of time.
Strong communication skills, including active listening, speaking, and effective writing.
Demonstrates cultural competency, compassion, and advocacy across the health care team.
Excellent bedside manner.

Nice To Haves

CRNI, IgCN, OCN, ONS, or other relevant certification preferred.
Infusion experience with biologic therapies preferred.

Responsibilities

Review patient charts before appointments to ensure all requirements are met and required medications and supplies will be available.
Maintain appropriate inventory of medications and supplies based on clinic schedule.
Provide exceptional customer service to patients and caregivers from the time of arrival at the AIC through completion of treatment and check out.
Determine appropriate venipuncture and/or catheter site and establish intravenous access.
Prepare medications for infusion according to manufacturer instructions utilizing aseptic technique.
Administer infusions via electronic pump, flow restricted tubing, or gravity as indicated.
Provide education to patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and the care plan.
Observe patients’ response to infusion therapy and document results in the electronic health record.
Identify, assess, and provide medical intervention for infusion-related reactions.
Notify the Nurse Practitioner and other members of the care team to changes in the patient’s condition.
Demonstrate proper infection control techniques.
Complete required audits and documentation as required.
Uphold clinical integrity, scope of practice, and best practices according to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
Demonstrate commitment to learning and professional development through attending required training, completing continuing education, and maintaining licenses and certifications.
Ensure care is delivered in compliance with applicable laws, rules, requirements, accreditation standards, and internal policies and procedures.
Ensure appropriate documentation of complaints, grievances, errors, adverse events, and other unanticipated outcomes according to policy.
