About The Position

Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient infusion team providing care for patients with autoimmune and rheumatologic conditions. This role combines both clinical infusion nursing and administrative care coordination responsibilities in a collaborative specialty practice.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia.
• BLS certification required (ACLS preferred).
• Minimum 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience; prior experience in rheumatology, oncology, or gastroenterology or neurology infusion clinics is preferred.
• Experience with IV therapy and medication administration.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR). (NextGen is a plus.)
• Strong patient education and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS preferred.
• prior experience in rheumatology, oncology, or gastroenterology or neurology infusion clinics is preferred.
• NextGen is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer intravenous infusion therapies according to established protocols and physician orders.
• Perform peripheral IV placement and maintain IV access for infusion treatments.
• Monitor patients during infusions for adverse reactions and respond appropriately to infusion-related complications.
• Assess patient condition before, during, and after infusion treatments.
• Administer pre-medications and manage infusion rate adjustments per protocol.
• Maintain accurate documentation of infusion start/stop times, medications, patient monitoring in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Ensure appropriate emergency medications and equipment are available in the infusion suite.
• Provide patient education regarding infusion therapy, potential side effects, and post-treatment care.
• Review physician orders and ensure infusion protocols and required labs are completed prior to treatment.
• Assist with coordination of infusion scheduling and patient flow.
• Communicate with providers regarding patient status, lab results, and treatment plans.
• Maintain infusion inventory and ensure proper medication storage and handling.
• Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and safety initiatives.
