This role is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Home Infusion, responsible for inserting, monitoring, and removing IVs for medications, blood products, and nutrition. The nurse will monitor patients for adverse reactions, ensure proper IV site maintenance, and perform venous phlebotomy when necessary. Throughout the IV therapy process, the nurse will obtain vital signs, complete physical assessments, review systems, and meticulously document all patient-related activities and medications used. The Per diem RN will also coordinate staffing services with the assistance of Company Directors, Nursing Coordinator, and the Director of Nursing, communicating with patients regarding their treatment and conveying documentation to internal and external staff for scheduling and pertinent patient information. This position requires strong skills in planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating patient care delivery, including comprehensive documentation of nursing care.

Requirements

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited college.
  • IV certification and experience in central line care and management.
  • Current state RN license with a minimum of two years nursing experience.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Experience with medical terminology.
  • Experience in home care, critical care, emergency nursing, AIC, or hospital discharge planning.
  • Some experience in staffing.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Good communicative and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel to see patients in the homes and in other health care settings.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • CPR certification.
  • Medical-surgical experience or knowledge in phlebotomy and venous access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.
  • Ability to work under high levels of stress and handle critical situations in the field.
  • Proficiency in all programs necessary for execution of position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including IV insertion, monitoring, removal, medication administration, and phlebotomy.
  • Monitor patient reactions, vital signs, and complete physical assessments and review of systems.
  • Document all patient activities, medications, and nursing notes accurately and completely.
  • Coordinate and schedule nursing visits (SOC and ongoing), confirming with patients and agencies/RNs.
  • Communicate patient status, problems, and special needs to families, supervisors, referring MDs, and LUX Infusion nursing leadership.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home infusion administration and proper IV/PICC line care.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical records, care plans, and progress notes for each patient.
  • Manage computer functions for patient information input, reports, and searches.
  • Adhere to all federal and state laws, ethical standards, and company compliance policies.
  • Coordinate staffing in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality and ethics.
  • Work in patients' residences and drive within the assigned territory.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and be available to work extra hours if needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and audits as directed.
  • Coordinate care planning with other disciplines and provide care that meets psychosocial, physical, and general aspects.
  • Determine priorities of care based on patient needs and factors influencing patient flow.
  • Communicate regarding changes in patient status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response.
  • Develop caring relationships with patients and treat them with respect and dignity.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Work under high levels of stress and handle critical situations in the field.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication.
  • Participate annually in required legal and ethical compliance training and act in compliance with company policies.
