Job Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient and their families, provides blankets, snacks, and beverages in the event no volunteers are available. Conducts themselves professionally in front of patients and with co-workers. Works collaboratively with the Physicians and APRN’s to deliver chemotherapy regiments to patients according to Physician orders. Practices safe administration of infusions, injections, and transfusions. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient. Acts as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up including, but not exclusive to: providers, social work, dietician, integrative medicine, pharmacy, navigators, laboratory, radiation therapy, genetics, and clinical research. Assists with administering shots and phlebotomy as required. Reviews all chemotherapy regiments before delivering to patients. Respond to any medical crises within the ECHO practice as needed. Assists with covering the triage role when scheduled. Put away medical and supply stock as delivered. Check infusion regiments for accuracy, communicate to the clinical care team regarding any concerns. Participates in continuing education, in service and department trainings as required. Manage a caseload of patients receiving a variety of infusion therapies on an outpatient basis. Maintains RN license as required by the State of CT Practice patient confidentiality at all times including abiding by HIPPA requirements. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current RN license through the State of CT
  • Previous experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a Hematology and Oncology Office preferred
