A Registered Nurse for Home Infusion at LUX Infusion is responsible for inserting, monitoring, and removing IVs for medications, blood products, and nutrition. During IV therapy, the nurse monitors for adverse reactions and ensures proper placement of tubing, bandages, and needles. The nurse also performs venous phlebotomy for blood level checks, obtains vital signs, completes physical assessments and review of systems, and documents all patient-related activities and medications used. The Per diem RN provides and coordinates all aspects of staffing services to the patient with the assistance of Company Directors, Nursing Coordinator, and the Director of Nursing. This role involves communicating with patients to address problems and solutions regarding their treatment, and conveying collected documentation to internal and third-party external staff for scheduling and patient information. The position requires skill in planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating patient care delivery by all staff, including complete documentation of nursing care and submission of nursing notes.

Requirements

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited college
  • IV certification & experience in central line care and management
  • Current state RN license required with a minimum of two years nursing
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Experience with medical terminology is required
  • Home care, critical care, emergency nursing, AIC or hospital discharge planning experience
  • Incumbent should have some experience in staffing and should be able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task as well as good communicative and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willing to travel to see patients in the homes, and in other health care facilities.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • CPR certification required

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the basic knowledge and judgment to utilize the nursing process to schedule nursing visits in accordance with RX’s and established protocols.
  • Coordinates SOC and ongoing nursing visits and confirms scheduled visits with both patient and Nursing Agency/RN.
  • Assures schedule is sent out via email to team.
  • Responsible for following up on and entering Therapy Admin reports and emailing to team.
  • Reviews all nurses notes for content and accuracy and completion without omitting necessary information such as drugs given, drug dosing and time of administration.
  • Continual communication with families, supervisors and field personnel, agencies regarding problems and/or special needs of both the patient.
  • Responsible to communicate all problems and reportable situations to the referring MD and appropriate MD office administrator and to LUX Infusion nursing.
  • Perform computer functions including but not limited to input, reports, searches.
  • Communicates patient/employee information to answering services when needed.
  • Read and understand company compliance paperwork.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with all applicable federal and state laws and with the highest ethical standards.
  • Coordinates staffing in a timely manner while also adhering to confidentiality and ethics as discussed in the compliance program 100% of the time.
  • Insert intravenous cannulas; administer prescribed intravenous solutions, medications; monitor & maintain infusion sites & system; evaluate responses to prescribed therapy.
  • Teach patients & caregivers to perform & monitor administration of Home Infusion as needed.
  • Prepare clinical records, care plans, progress notes for each patient.
  • Coordinate schedule of patient visits & phone calls.
  • Works in patients place of residence.
  • Drive as assigned within area.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Must have scheduling flexibility and be able to work extra hours if needed.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities and audits as directed.
