About The Position

The Infrastructure Team Lead will manage and direct a specialized team of engineers responsible for enterprise-level Backup, Storage, VMware, Nutanix, and Citrix environments in support of government operations. This role is technical and leadership-oriented, requiring the ability to get hands-on with complex infrastructure challenges while simultaneously interfacing with government stakeholders, senior leadership, and solution architects. The ideal candidate is a natural communicator, a disciplined project manager, and a seasoned technologist who can bridge the gap between operational execution and strategic direction.

Requirements

  • Deep working knowledge of enterprise virtualization platforms (e.g. VMware vSphere/vCenter, vSAN, VMWare HCI, Nutanix)
  • Hands-on expertise with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix ADC, StoreFront, and Workspace Environment Management (WEM)
  • Familiarity with enterprise storage technologies including SAN/NAS, NetApp ONTAP, Dell EMC Avamar Virtual Edition (AVE), Pure Storage, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel
  • Strong understanding of DoD compliance frameworks including RMF, STIGs, and NIST 800-53
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices including change management, incident management, and problem management
  • Ability to develop, track, and present KPIs, dashboards, and infrastructure health metrics using enterprise monitoring and observability tools ( SolarWinds, vRealize Operations, Nutanix Prism Pro, and Citrix Director)
  • Ability to develop and manage documentation and project plans, including WBS, implementation schedules and risk registers.
  • Strong documentation skills, including development of SOPs, as-built diagrams, and CDRL-formatted deliverables, and CDRL compliant deliverables alignted to government contracting requirements.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly through executive-level briefings, written reports and data-driven presentations for government customers and sr. leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a multi-discipline engineering team
  • Strong organizational ability to manage competing priorities across team workloads, project timelines, and operational demands
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across internal teams, government personnel, vendors, and enterprise architects
  • Capable of escalating issues with sound judgment, recommended mitigations, and appropriate urgency
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees as well as outside business associates; exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others.
  • Work independently, as well as on a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and industry-standard computer software and databases.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience with a minimum of 2 years in a team lead or supervisory role
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in two or more of the following: VMware, Nutanix, Citrix, enterprise Backup, or enterprise Storage
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers spanning Backup/Recovery, Storage, VMware, Nutanix, and Citrix disciplines.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and manage workloads to ensure SLA adherence and mission continuity.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and technical coaching sessions with team members.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture with emphasis on accountability, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership and escalation support for enterprise backup/recovery solutions and storage infrastructure management (e.g., NetApp, CommVault, Nutanix).
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for VMware vSphere/vCenter environments.
  • Direct the deployment, configuration, and optimization of Nutanix HCI clusters.
  • Manage Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) infrastructure and end-user performance.
  • Develop and validate technical solutions in coordination with the Solutions Architect to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and DoD requirements.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, design sessions, and technology roadmapping with the Solutions Architect.
  • Interface directly with government customers, contracting officers, and program managers as a technical point of contact.
  • Represent the infrastructure team in formal briefings, program reviews, and status meetings with government leadership.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise communications appropriate for non-technical government audiences.
  • Manage and respond to government data calls, technical inquiries, and ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Compile, maintain, and present operational reports, dashboards, and infrastructure health charts for upper management and government personnel.
  • Define, track, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for system uptime, incident resolution, backup success rates, and capacity utilization.
  • Ensure the team meets or exceeds all contractual and organizational performance standards.
  • Develop and maintain metrics-driven documentation to support compliance audits, CDRLs, and program reviews.
  • Develop low-level project plans, work breakdown structures (WBS), and implementation schedules for infrastructure initiatives.
  • Coordinate across teams, vendors, and government stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-scope delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and issues; escalate appropriately with recommended mitigations.
  • Maintain project documentation including SOPs, runbooks, as-built diagrams, and change control records.
  • Serve as the liaison between the infrastructure team and the enterprise architecture function to ensure technical solutions align with the broader IT strategy.
