Vitamix is seeking an Infrastructure Network Engineer I who will be responsible for the day-to-day execution and support of network solutions that maintain business continuity and improve IT efficiency. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, they assist in deploying secure, scalable, and high-availability network infrastructure. This role is foundational to the team, focusing on the practical implementation, proactive monitoring, and rapid resolution of network issues while strictly adhering to established compliance and security standards.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Mastery of the OSI and TCP/IP models, IPv4 addressing, subnetting (CIDR), and essential services including DNS (resolution troubleshooting) and DHCP (scopes/reservations)
  • Understanding of VLANs (tagging, trunking, access ports), MAC/ARP tables, and the basics of static and dynamic routing protocols (OSPF/BGP awareness)
  • Familiarity with CISCO Wireless Controllers and AP management, understanding of interference and basic site survey concepts (Ekahau experience is a plus)
  • Hands-on ability to perform basic configuration, console access (Serial/USB), firmware upgrades, and backups for routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Proficiency in ethernet (Cat5e6) and Fiber (single-mode/multi-mode) standards, including rack hygiene, patch panel management and accurate labeling
  • General orientation with server environments, including virtualization, AD basics and cloud awareness (Azure/AWS)
  • Functional knowledge of firewall concepts, NAT, VPN fundamentals, and awareness of common security threats
  • Competency in Windows (NIC config, Event Viewer) and Linux/Unix (SSH basics, CLI-based network commands, and config file editing)
  • Skilled use of common diagnostic tools such as Ping, Traceroute, Nslookup/Dig, Wireshark, and SNMP monitoring
  • Ability to interpret and update logical and physical network diagrams and assist in asset lifecycle management
  • Awareness and use of enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Aruba UXI) to identify performance trends
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical status and play-by play details during active troubleshooting scenarios

  • On-call responsibilities to provide 24 X 7 X 365 support to ensure business continuity and system stability. This includes, but not limited to, incoming calls, pages, and/or emails regarding infrastructure incidents.
  • After hours troubleshooting, maintenance and/or project work will be required periodically to support IT and the business.
  • Local travel within Northeast Ohio to facilitate the resolution of issues, problems, and project work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute network solutions and configurations independently for routine tasks or under the direct mentorship of senior engineers for complex projects.
  • Install, rack, cable, and configure network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, and APs) and perform routine software updates and patches.
  • Provide support for data center operations, assisting with the physical and virtual connectivity of servers and storage environments.
  • Perform initial analysis and diagnosis of connectivity issues; execute approved corrective actions to resolve "break-fix" tickets efficiently.
  • Maintain and monitor security solutions (such as VPNs and ACLs) to ensure the network environment remains compliant with internal policies and industry best practices.
  • Act as a point of contact for vendor technicians and service providers to facilitate equipment repairs or circuit installations.
  • Diligently document network changes, maintain accurate IP spreadsheets, and update knowledge base articles to ensure team-wide visibility.
  • Proactively monitor network performance using specialized tools to identify potential bottlenecks or outages before they impact the business.
