About The Position

The Maryland State Department of Education is dedicated to supporting a world-class educational system that prepares all students for college and career success in the 21st century. With excellent stewardship from our divisions, we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population – students, teachers, principals, and other educators throughout Maryland. MSDE is looking for candidates for a paid, full-time Infrastructure intern to assist MSDE's Information Technology Branch. This will be a 6 month internship The primary objective of this internship is to support core web application development and maintenance tasks. The chosen candidate will ensure the timely and high-quality development of new and existing web applications by providing dedicated, focused support.

Requirements

  • 60 credit hours in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Interested applicants should have a focus on application programming/development
  • Applicants must consent to State and FBI (CJIS) background check as a routine procedure for all MSDE employees.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building, maintaining, and implementing new features for web applications, including troubleshooting and debugging existing code.
  • Direct support for the critical Grants AFR project rebuild.
  • Utilize accessibility checker software to identify and resolve A11Y issues (Accessibility Compliance) before final review.
  • Participate in code reviews and assist with testing and deployment processes.
