The Network Engineer is responsible for the hands-on design, implementation, operation, and support of the organization’s network infrastructure. This role provides day-to-day technical ownership of LAN, WAN, wireless, firewall, and network security systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The Network Engineer serves as a senior technical resource, troubleshooting complex issues and supporting infrastructure initiatives across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Equivalent professional experience may be considered)
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network environments
  • Demonstrated experience with routing, switching, and firewall technologies
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols
  • Experience with enterprise network hardware and firewalls
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Understanding of network security principles and best practices

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or equivalent
  • Experience supporting cloud or hybrid networking environments
  • Experience in enterprise or public-sector IT environments

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems
  • Implement and support LAN, WAN, VPN, and Internet connectivity
  • Configure routing, switching, VLANs, and network segmentation
  • Support hybrid and cloud connectivity (e.g., Azure, VPNs, ExpressRoute or equivalent)
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents and outages
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching of network devices
  • Participate directly in incident response and root cause analysis
  • Implement and maintain firewall rules, network access controls, and security policies
  • Support network security initiatives including segmentation, intrusion detection, and traffic monitoring
  • Assist with security audits, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and technical documentation
  • Develop and follow network standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Assist with planning and execution of network refresh and modernization efforts
  • Work closely with systems, cloud, and application teams to support infrastructure needs
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support for network-related issues
  • Assist with vendor coordination and technical evaluations
