As an Infrastructure Engineer Sr. within PNC's Technology organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh PA or Strongsville OH. Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infrastructure Engineer Sr. to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software application packages within a RedHat Linux server environment. This role demands an advanced to expert-level Linux engineer with a strong background in scripting, automation, and modern DevOps toolsets. Job Description Provides expertise on platform engineering, while overseeing the team's effort and meeting customer needs. Uses technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build and maintain technology solutions. Develops software components and hardware for complex projects; aligns these with business strategies and objectives. Provides expertise on best practices, standards, engineering approaches and complex technical resolutions for processes. Places emphasis on quality improvement efforts; ensures that deliverables are secure, scalable and reliable through estimation and correction. Communicates with customers and integrates their needs with development, to meet business objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Linux engineer, with a focus on RedHat environments preferred
  • Advanced to expert proficiency with bash scripting and RPM package creation.
  • Extensive experience with Ansible, including Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and AWX.
  • Proficient in Python programming for automation and integration tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, Bitbucket, GitHub, and Jenkins.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or similar certification.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps culture.
  • Experience with security hardening and compliance for Linux systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy software application packages for RedHat Linux servers, ensuring compatibility and security.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize RPM packages to streamline application installation and updates.
  • Author and maintain advanced bash scripts for automation, monitoring, and system management tasks.
  • Design and implement infrastructure automation using Ansible, including playbooks, roles, and modules.
  • Develop Python scripts and utilities for system integration, automation, and operational support.
  • Utilize Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), AWX, and related tools to orchestrate complex automation workflows.
  • Collaborate with teams using ServiceNow for change management, Bitbucket and GitHub for source control, and Jenkins for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Linux servers, application packaging, and automation workflows.
  • Document procedures, standards, and best practices for package creation, deployment, and automation.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and security best practices relevant to Linux infrastructure and automation.
