Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • Foundational understanding of communications technologies and demonstrate the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve network problems of moderate complexity.
  • Solid understanding of tier II and tier III support for the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Field Operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cisco Wireless, Catalyst Center, MS Visio
  • Experience with Cisco ISE for network access control, device profiling, and guest/onboarding workflows.
  • CCNA (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the research, lab installation, configuration and testing, drawings and standards of enterprise networks with a primary focus on network routing and switching.
  • Perform infrastructure project assignments.
  • Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.
  • Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
  • Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.
  • Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.
  • May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
