This position is primarily based in a location within PNC's footprint. Responsibilities require time in the office or in a field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities can be performed remotely. Additional locations may be considered. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mainframe DevOps Developer to join our enterprise infrastructure team. This role focuses on modernizing mainframe operations by integrating DevOps practices, automating workflows, and improving deployment pipelines for legacy and hybrid systems.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., REXX, Python, Shell).
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and service orchestration.
  • Knowledge of source control and versioning in mainframe environments.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mainframe modernization or hybrid cloud integration.
  • Exposure to enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics).
  • Certifications in DevOps, IBM z/OS, or related technologies.
  • Strong experience with mainframe technologies (e.g., z/OS, TSO/ISPF, JCL, DB2, CICS).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for mainframe applications (e.g., COBOL, PL/I, JCL).
  • Integrate mainframe systems with modern DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, SonarQube, UrbanCode Deploy).
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes across environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support agile development and release cycles.
  • Monitor and optimize performance of mainframe DevOps processes.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in mainframe environments and pipelines.
