Job Description: This job is responsible for infrastructure tool/service designs within technical domains in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Key responsibilities include facilitating deployment of tools/services by leading others in solution development, maintenance of templates, playbooks and automation used during implementation. Job expectations include demonstrating expertise within technical domains, decomposing issues or objectives into work units, advancing efficient solution delivery practices, and promoting exceptional design, engineering and organizational practices. Overview: The Bank of America ND&E Core Networks Engineering team is responsible for the design of complex networking solutions deployable into the banks regional, international and metropolitan backbone packet and metropolitan optical transport networks. This team consists of highly motivated self-directed individuals who exceed performance expectations in a large and challenging workplace. The Bank of America core networks is a carrier class infrastructure built on industry best practices and utilize carrier grade routing and optical transport platforms. Operating as a Core Network Engineer, candidates will drive the design of WAN/MAN technology solutions, support the architecture, operational and business technology teams in a design and consulting capacity while adhering to all architectural level standards.

  • Confirms that application and business requirements have been translated into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks to guide development and integration of technology solutions
  • Contributes to the creation/selection of functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements within and across domains
  • Reviews and may develop software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes
  • Reviews and guides the evaluation of reference models, blueprints, playbooks and the execution of on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoption
  • Mentors and assists Infrastructure resources on infrastructure service along with application integration validation methods and tools to ensure that technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards
  • Promotes an inclusive and healthy working environment and help to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
  • Engineer large complex WAN/MAN networking solutions for new and existing networks
  • Support initiatives that drive topology and capacity alterations to the core level networks
  • Development of engineering documents, based on existing architectural templates
  • Develop of global IP routing designs (BGP, AS, IS-IS)
  • Develop Quality-of-Service policy configurations
  • Evaluation of emerging networking technologies
  • Interface with architecture, operational and lab/certification teams
  • Provide input for new initiatives and Life Cycle Management programs
  • Support operational root cause analysis for network impacting events
  • 10+ Years of experience in LAN/WAN networking
  • 10+ Years Cisco routing and switching experience
  • Must have prior engineering and/or architecture group lead experience
  • Engineering experience within a large service provider is preferred
  • Strong knowledge and configuration skills of routing protocols to include: ISIS and BGP
  • Must demonstrate strong experience with IP multicast, Route Reflectors, MPLS, LDP, Segment Routing (SR-MPLS), L2VPN and L3VPN (Unicast/Multicast)
  • Familiarization with data center protocols such as EVPN & VXLAN
  • Familiarization with optical transport technologies such as DWDM and 400G-ZR/ZR+.
  • Knowledgeable with QoS concepts and queuing strategies, experience with QoS configurations, diagnosing and tuning of QoS and performing bandwidth analysis
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills in a complex multi-layered network environment
  • BA or BS in Telecommunications, Data Communications or Computer Science or equivalent work experience
