Infrastructure Design Coordinator
About The Position
This is specialized technical and coordination work supporting infrastructure design and space planning initiatives across Commonwealth facilities. The Infrastructure Design Coordinator is responsible for developing and modifying floorplans to support telecommunications, audio/visual (A/V), video conferencing, and network infrastructure, ensuring alignment with operational needs and Commonwealth standards. This role supports the Space Optimization and Utilization Project (SOUP) and serves as a key liaison between Workplace Solutions, technical teams, and external partners including contractors, vendors, and real estate stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience working with:
- Floorplans and architectural drawings
- Infrastructure design (telecom, A/V, network, IoT)
- Strong understanding of:
- Building construction processes and facility layouts
- Space planning and infrastructure integration
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Analyze and solve design-related issues
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Coordinate across multiple teams and external partners
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu or similar design/documentation tools
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting government or public sector facility projects
- Familiarity with SOUP (Space Optimization and Utilization Project) or similar space planning initiatives

Responsibilities
- Develop and modify facility floorplans to support:
- A/V systems
- Video conferencing solutions
- IoT devices
- Network drops and telecommunications infrastructure
- Review architectural drawings and infrastructure layouts to ensure proper technology placement and integration
- Identify design gaps, conflicts, and inefficiencies within SOUP initiatives, and recommend practical solutions
- Participate in space planning and design meetings, providing technical input and recommendations
- Serve as a liaison between Workplace Solutions management and technical teams, ensuring alignment across stakeholders
- Collaborate with:
- Enterprise Telecom
- Network Operations
- Video Conferencing teams
- Coordinate with Department of General Services (DGS), including Bureau of Real Estate and Capital Programs, as well as external vendors, contractors, and lessors
- Utilize Bluebeam Revu and related tools to create, edit, and manage design documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of infrastructure layouts and changes
- Translate business and facility requirements into technical infrastructure layouts and floorplans
- Ensure infrastructure designs support scalability, usability, and operational efficiency
- Analyze space utilization and recommend improvements for optimization and standardization
- Support walkthroughs, site surveys, and validation of design implementations
- Coordinate across multiple stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate execution of design plans
- Identify and escalate design risks, constraints, or conflicts
