About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Key job responsibilities To be successful in this role you should possess technical aptitude, written and oral communications skills and the ability to deal effectively with people in a wide variety of situations. In addition, you must possess strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability. You will be able to leverage your experience exercising high levels of initiative, judgment, and diplomacy. Logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. (GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States)

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Experience working in a colocation data center facility
  • The ability to sit in front of computer for entire scheduled 8-hour shift with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41 pounds or more
  • Walk job sites in uneven terrain
  • Work at heights and from ladders

Responsibilities

  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
  • Carry a pager/cell phone for communication, information, emergency, and on-call situations
  • Up to 20% travel within geographical work area is required. Some travel outside traditional work area may be requested, including internationally.
  • Install, test and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, including patch panels and patch cords.
  • Linux/Unix Administration

Benefits

  • Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $50,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $113,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
