About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated expertise in EPA standards (OSHA plus), OSHA 500 (Authorized Outreach Trainer) or OSHA 510 and Safety or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, local, and company standards.
  • Review and update Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and site-specific safety plans.
  • Ensure subcontractors and vendors meet safety contractual obligations before work commences.
  • Perform pre-task safety assessments to identify hazards such as fall risks, electrical hazards, and heavy equipment operations.
  • Lead risk assessments for high-risk activities including scaffolding, trenching, crane operations, and confined spaces.
  • Collaborate with engineers and superintendents to implement engineering controls such as guardrails, PPE, and ventilation systems.
  • Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and violations by documenting root causes, witness statements, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain incident logs, perform trend analysis, and report findings to project leadership, insurance providers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations and toolbox talks on topics such as fall protection, fire prevention, and equipment safety.
  • Develop and deliver specialized safety training programs including forklift certification, lockout/tagout, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture by engaging workers, recognizing safe behaviors, and addressing unsafe acts promptly.
