About The Position

Under the specific direction of the Technical Director, the Infrastructure Administrator will plan, implement, maintain, and support the infrastructure of the university, including hardware, software, systems operations, switches, and computing appliances with an emphasis on Data Center Resiliency. In addition, the Infrastructure Administrator will be a member of the Network team with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience working in systems and network administration.
  • Display strong end-user orientation and customer service skills
  • Strong understanding of technical troubleshooting methodology
  • Self-directed with strong desire to succeed
  • Demonstrated excellence in teamwork as well as excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
  • Attention to detail and thorough documentation
  • Ability to work with a range of technical staff to develop joint solutions
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as needed to move equipment
  • Must be able to sit for long periods at a time and or stand for long periods at a time
  • Must be able to use a ladder or crawl under desks and tight spaces as needed for troubleshooting equipment, cabling, projectors, etc.

  • Previous Higher Education Experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure, update, and establish network performance of switches and other network appliances.
  • Ensure the protection and retention of data through monitoring and maintenance of the Rubrik backup appliance and archiving platforms installed with an emphasis on Data Center Resiliency.
  • Identify, establish, and design network environment in addition to troubleshooting as needed.
  • Maintain and support assigned systems to ensure minimal downtime or prevent loss of access.
  • Deploy strategies and plans to ensure rapid system development and recovery through system imaging and other technologies.
  • Support the Network team in the design, implementation, and support of the University networking infrastructure, spam filters, VLANs, and other technologies, including configuration of network switches, server hardware, operating systems, applications and services in a wired and wireless environment.
  • As in the deployment and support of various virtual system technologies, including Nutanix HCI, VMware vSphere, VDI, and other related technologies.
  • Assist in the installations, configurations, and management of the wireless network consisting of 700 + access points.
  • Support the physical copper and fiber cable plants including maintaining documentation, maintaining implementation standards, and reviewing contractor work to ensure adherence to requirements, as needed.
