About The Position

The Information Technology Technician 2 analyzes technical problems and implements appropriate solutions. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide telephone, remote, and in-person technical support through the UT Health Science Center College of Medicine-Knoxville’s Help Desk operation. This position is also primarily responsible for performing installation and upgrades to computers and peripherals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience; OR a combination of education and experience to equal two (2) years.
  • Extensive applied knowledge and direct experience with Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft Office 365, TCP/IP, and BitLocker encryption.
  • Fundamental knowledge of MacOS and iOS.
  • Fundamental knowledge of network architecture, server functionality, and mail clients.
  • Intermediate computer troubleshooting skills necessary.
  • Advanced knowledge of HIPAA required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ and ITIL v4 Foundation certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to the entire UT Health Science Center COM-Knoxville’s clinical and educational enterprise.
  • Performs scheduled installation and replacement of end-user computers, peripheral devices and necessary software.
  • Prioritizes and completes work based on criticality and impact on the affected department and the organization.
  • Creates, manages and maintains internal knowledge base articles and configuration documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
