The IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/OS) position at the Department of the Navy involves the installation, configuration, customization, and testing of systems and applications for the NAVIFOR, HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER. This role is critical in ensuring the operational efficiency of automated communication systems and desktop technologies, requiring a strong background in IT systems and services.

Plan and carry out complex assignments utilizing IT systems and services.
Install, operate, and maintain automated communications systems and desktop technologies.
Perform installation, configuration, customization, and testing of systems and COTS/GOTS applications.
Develop integration, testing, and deployment plans, and execute those plans as necessary.
Install and test system security configurations, monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain workstation and server hardware and software.
Develop and maintain technical and operational documentation to support hardware/software lifecycle.

Must be a US Citizen.
Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Demonstrated experience in installation, configuration, customization, and testing of systems and desktop applications.
Experience in developing and implementing strategies for installation and configuration of hardware and software.
Technical guidance and advice in integrating systems into the IT architecture.

Experience with cybersecurity compliance and security technical implementation guides (STIGs).
Familiarity with automated communication systems.
