Under direction of the Hypervisor Information Technology Manager (IT Mgr I), the Information Technology Specialist (IT Spec I) will provide expert level Systems Integration/Solutions Architect at the Office of Technology Services (OTech). The IT Spec I is responsible for providing expert level systems administration for virtual environment. This position has a high level analytical and systems administration responsibility on supporting project and system administration which requires working independently or working with fellow team members. The IT Spec I will work closely with internal and external customers and other units within OTech to coordinate, implement and maintain a virtual infrastructure. The specified duties of this position include but are not limited to: design, support, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, software/programming development, and troubleshooting the virtual compute resources (software, hardware, networking, and storage). Telework This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule within California based on departmental policy and operational needs. The telework policy is subject to change depending on business needs, and/or reporting to the work site may be required with minimal notification given.   • Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s).
  • Extensive knowledge of data processing concepts, practices, technical infrastructure, methods and principles with respect to evolving industry trends, practices and standards is required for the incumbent to consult on customer projects.
  • Proper judgment in problem resolution, software implementation and database consultation is vital to the success of the projects assigned to the unit and to the integrity of our customer's data.
  • The incumbent must have a strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies, object-oriented analysis and design, and/or client/server systems.
  • The incumbent must have excellent communication skills to provide customer support.
  • Applicants should have the ability to work independently or work as part of a team in order to complete staff work, contribute through these techniques and gain closure of tasks and/or group assignments.
  • Experience in multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments that includes at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, storage area principles/networks, application development, middleware, database management, operating system administration or operations.
