About The Position

The Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) position at the New York State Thruway Authority involves developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions to support the Engineering Department's business needs. The role requires a strong background in software development, particularly in requirements gathering and complex software systems maintenance.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 15 semester credit hours in Computer Science; or a bachelor's degree in any field with one year of experience in Information Technology; or 60 semester credit hours with 15 in Computer Science and one year of experience; or two years of experience in Information Technology.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Ability to write clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Experience as a web application developer.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with MVC development pattern.
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL database systems such as Oracle or MongoDB.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Experience with .NET framework.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
