The New York State Education Department's (NYSED) Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applicants for the position of Information Technology Specialist 2. This position is allocated within the Information Technology Services Office and will be reporting to an Information Technology Specialist 3. Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide phone, email, ticket and in person assistance to ITS Help Desk customers for NYSED standard software and hardware, network issues, and information security incidents; Work effectively with NYSED staff to analyze complex technical hardware, software, and network problems, and devise solutions that meet customers' needs; Develop comprehensive IT solutions based on in-depth knowledge and experience specific to how NYSED technologies works together; Create beginner and advanced level training courses for NYSED supported software and present them virtually and/or in person in a formal classroom setting; Create written instructions, handouts, and course materials to explain features of hardware and software; Create and maintain Help Desk and Training web pages; Research features of new and existing software; Utilize Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Microsoft Active Directory for troubleshooting; Collaborate and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with ITS staff and program office staff; and, Document IT issues and fixes using appropriate ITS procedures and practices.
