About the position
This is a Software Developer and Application Support position in a large, complex local government organization. This position is within the Miami-Dade County Information Technology Department and provides support services to applications for the Miami-Dade Police Department. This position will support the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in a forensics setting. This position entails working closely with end users and the system vendor on day to day operational support, system administration tasks such as configuration, migration, and upgrades, as well as requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, development and testing of reports and enhancements to the LIMS system. This is a hybrid position primarily working from home with regular on-site work based in Miami, Florida. Candidates must be local to Miami-Dade County or surrounding area.
Responsibilities
- Provide support services to applications for the Miami-Dade Police Department.
- Support the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in a forensics setting.
- Work closely with end users and the system vendor on day-to-day operational support.
- Perform system administration tasks such as configuration, migration, and upgrades.
- Gather requirements, analyze, document, develop, and test reports and enhancements to the LIMS system.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Five years of experience in software development and systems analysis.
- Additional related work experience in software development and systems analysis may substitute for the required college education on a year-for-year basis.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with support and system administration of complex applications.
- Experience with application development, implementing complex and integrated software solutions.
- Oracle database experience, including SQL.
- Experience with network and network security principles related to application support and administration.
- Experience with managing IT software projects in a large organization.
- Experience with documenting business processes and gathering business requirements.
- Experience with web services and file-based integrations/interfaces with other systems.
- Experience with laboratory processes and operations.
- Experience with Crystal Reports or Power BI.
- Experience with support, system administration, and upgrades of the StarLIMS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) product.
- Experience with developing or configuring enhancements to the StarLIMS LIMS, such as reports or functional enhancements.
- Experience with database and application performance optimization related to the StarLIMS system.
