About The Position

The Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board (Board) is seeking to hire an Information Technology (IT) Liaison in the administrative title of Executive I to perform specialized IT work related to managing all aspects of the Board's technological responsibilities under the direction of the agency Executive Director. This is a diverse position with multiple IT responsibilities and the selected candidate will serve as the agency's technology specialist assigned to manage projects involving the development, design and implementation of IT and communications systems. He or she will serve as liaison to the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT), the department responsible for overseeing all technology for the agencies under the Governor's jurisdiction, by attending all technology training provided by DoIT and communicating updated information to the Executive Director for agency implementation. The work would include assessing, developing and implementing all software and hardware products for staff and Board Members, through consultation with the Executive Director, General Counsel, and agency CFO. The work involves managing the agency case tracking database system and generating a variety of mandatory case reports by manipulating the database programs and fields and producing data reports within specified deadlines. It also includes maintaining, designing and updating the agency's website; and preparing risk assessment protocols and reports, implementing IT security measures and generating various related IT reports. The duties cover managing all facets of agency telecommunications services and instructing staff on the use of data, voice and wireless services; analyzing, resolving and projecting agency IT issues, remedies and developmental goals. Electronic inventory of all agency property, including computer hardware components, document conversion duties, electronic file storage, and disposition of agency records supported by detailed reports, as agency liaison to the Illinois Secretary of State Records division, is a critical part of the job. As there a variety of tasks and duties, most requiring frequent interaction with various agency personnel, staff and outside entities, the ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The selected candidate should be able to write basic reports and verbally express the status of the agency's IT accomplishments, needs and goals.
