About The Position

The Information Technology Director (IT Director) for the City of Chattanooga is responsible for overseeing the IT Operations Division within the Department of Information Technology. This role involves planning, managing, and directing the activities of the IT staff, ensuring the maintenance and development of the city's network infrastructure, server systems, and IT Help Desk. The IT Director will also collaborate with various departments and external partners to ensure compliance with regulations and to meet service level agreements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Information Systems, or Business with IT concentration required.
• Master's Degree in a related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in planning and fiscal budgeting required.
• 5-7 years of experience in managing complex computer and telecommunications networks and IT helpdesk operations.

Responsibilities

• Direct the IT Operations Division, overseeing managers and staff responsible for network infrastructure and IT services.
• Manage day-to-day activities, including planning, coordinating, and evaluating IT programs and projects.
• Assist the CIO in strategic planning for IT networks and operations.
• Communicate and collaborate with internal departments and external partners to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
• Participate in budgeting for IT operations, preparing cost estimates and monitoring expenditures.
• Maintain inventory of IT assets and manage purchase requests for new equipment.
• Act on behalf of the CIO in their absence.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
