Peraton is seeking a Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will provide technical security oversight, support vulnerability assessments, and ensure continuous monitoring and compliance activities are fully integrated into system designs. In this role, you will serve as a critical partner in designing, building, and safeguarding systems that support mission-critical operations.   • Provide technical security oversight throughout the system development life-cycle to ensure adherence to security requirements.
  • Support vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis to identify and mitigate potential threats.
  • Integrate continuous monitoring and compliance activities into system architectures and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with system architects, developers, and operations teams to embed security controls in designs and configurations.
  • Prepare and maintain security documentation, including system security plans (SSPs), risk assessments, and POA&Ms.
  • Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, RMF, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Assist in incident response planning and remediation efforts to improve system resilience.
  • Stay informed about emerging threats, technologies, and compliance standards to guide proactive security improvements.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience or Masters degree and 10 years or Associate’s degree and 14 years experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience.
  • Proven expertise in information systems security engineering or related cybersecurity roles.
  • Proven expertise with vulnerability assessment tools, continuous monitoring strategies, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, system hardening, and secure configuration practices.
  • Familiarity with network security, cloud environments, and encryption technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Exposure to FAA programs or NAS systems.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CAP, CEH, or Security+.
  • Experience with federal systems, FAA modernization programs, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and modern security architectures.
  • Background in DevSecOps practices, including security automation and CI/CD integration.
  • Experience providing security guidance to subcontractors or vendor teams on complex projects.
  • Salary range: $112,000 - $179,000, determined by various factors including experience, education, and geographic location.
  • Eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
