About The Position

Air Force Medical is seeking an Information Systems Security / Cybersecurity Support Specialist to support day-to-day cybersecurity, compliance, and systems administration activities across a regulated DoD environment. This role supports Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, system security operations, and coordination with technical and program stakeholders to ensure secure and compliant IT operations.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with enterprise IT systems, security administration, and compliance support, along with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced government environment.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• 3+ years of experience in systems administration, IT operations, cybersecurity support, or compliance-related roles.
• Working knowledge of information security principles and compliance frameworks such as RMF, NIST, or similar.
• Experience supporting Windows-based enterprise environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM, Intune, Office 365).
• Familiarity with vulnerability management, patching, and security hardening practices.
• Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a government program environment.
• Annual vaccinations as required by the MEDGROUP

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to NIST standards (800-37, 800-53, 800-30) or similar security guidance.
• Experience with cybersecurity or compliance tools such as eMASS, ACAS, STIGs, or SCAP tools.
• DoD 8570/8140-aligned certification (e.g., Security+, CAP, CISSP) or ability to obtain.
• Prior experience supporting government, healthcare, or DoD environments.
• Active or ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support cybersecurity and compliance activities aligned with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) or similar security governance frameworks.
• Assist with system security documentation, control implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
• Perform systems and security administration tasks including user account management, permissions, patching, and configuration management.
• Support vulnerability management activities using tools such as ACAS, STIGs, SCAP tools, or comparable security assessment platforms.
• Assist with eMASS data entry, tracking, and coordination activities (or similar compliance tracking systems).
• Coordinate with system owners, engineers, and program leadership to support audits, assessments, and security reviews.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and operational support for enterprise IT environments, including Windows servers, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of security processes, documentation, and operational procedures.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
