About The Position

The Office of the State Auditor is looking for a Staff Information Systems Auditor I to contribute to the completion of audits that could help reduce risks of data tampering, data loss or leakage, service disruption, and poor management of information technology (IT) systems. As part of our team, you will get to: • Work as part of a team to direct and coordinate audits of a diverse range of IT topics and projects at entities that include state agencies, universities, and community colleges • Speak with auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand the IT systems under audit • Conduct on-side fieldwork, including information gathering and interviews, to determine risks impacting the system under audit and to identify processes and controls that mitigate IT security risks • Review and analyze source records and reports, programmatic data, financial or program documentation, and/or systems • Document the results of your work and any potential findings and recommendations

Requirements

  • Ability to learn and understand laws, regulations, and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, technical and professional standards, including Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards and General Accepted Auditing Standards
  • Ability to learn and understand IT general and application controls to evaluate and review a range of mainframe, PC, and distributed environments
  • Ability to follow audit/investigative/review procedures as planned and review work for completeness and accuracy
  • A bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in accounting and 12 semester hours in information technology or computer & information security from an appropriately accredited institution OR A bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in information technology or computer & information security and 12 semester hours in accounting/business from an appropriately accredited institution OR An equivalent combination of education and experience
