The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) Level 1 at K2 Technical, LLC is a critical role responsible for maintaining the operational security posture of information systems. This position requires close collaboration with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Security Officer (ISO) to ensure that security measures are effectively implemented and maintained. The ISSO will manage the security aspects of the information system, which includes overseeing day-to-day security operations, physical and environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, and security training and awareness. The ISSO will be tasked with monitoring the information systems and their operational environments, developing and updating authorization documentation, and implementing configuration management across authorization boundaries. This role is particularly focused on Special Access Programs (SAPs) that support Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including HQ Air Force and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). The ISSO will provide daily support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and SAP activities, ensuring compliance with security protocols and procedures. Key responsibilities include assisting the ISSM in fulfilling their duties, preparing and reviewing authorization packages, ensuring proper procedures for hardware and media sanitization, and conducting periodic reviews of information systems. The ISSO will also coordinate changes to hardware, software, or firmware with the ISSM and the Authorizing Official (AO) or Designated Approving Authority (DAO). Additionally, the ISSO will monitor system recovery processes, maintain current security documentation, and ensure audit records are collected and reviewed. Continuous professional development through technical and security training is also a requirement of this position.
