About the position

We invite qualified applicants to apply for the position of Information Services Specialist I with the State Retirement Systems (SRS). In this role, you will utilize a variety of tools including Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server, .Net Framework, .Net Entity Framework, C#, MVC, WPF and Azure DevOps. The candidate should have entry level background in Information Technology and be able to learn new and emerging technologies within the field. The ideal candidate for this position should have at least one year of professional experience developing using Microsoft technology stack. Candidates should possess strong troubleshooting skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work in a team environment and be self-motivated. Responsibilities

  • Works with experienced systems analyst to develop and implement web and client-based systems using standard department software.
  • Assists more experienced team members in providing assistance to users and Information Technology staff in determining requirements, preparing specifications for test driven development, test scripts, and test data for new or modified programs and systems.
  • Evaluates test results to verify conformance with program objectives.
  • Participates with a senior analyst in user interviews concerning improvements, gathering requirements, changes or corrections of existing computer systems.
  • Codes, tests, and implements Web and client-based systems using either Visual Studio, .Net, C#, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Project, MS Office, MS Visio, or Windows 2007.
  • Writes and implements test plans to assure correctness of program changes and creates/changes Operations Documentation where applicable.
  • Attends daily scrum meetings and walk through reviews of code and test results either as an observer or participant.
  • Attends courses at the Training Center or other training facility on systems analysis and computer programming.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Requirements

  • Requires one year of experience in object-oriented application development, systems analysis, relational database design, and the use of client and web-development programming languages and techniques.
  • Requires one year of experience in the following languages and technologies: C#, VB.net, .Net, Agile development, Microsoft Visual Studio, ASP.net, SQL server, and Office.
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with course work in application development; or satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefers one year of experience in object-oriented application development, systems analysis, relational database design, and the use of client and web-development programming languages and techniques.
  • Prefers one year of experience in the following languages and technologies: C#, VB.net, .Net, Agile development, Microsoft Visual Studio, ASP.net, SQL server, and Office.
  • Prefers thorough understanding of object-oriented concepts and experience using .Net application development tools to develop web and client-based applications.
