About The Position

The Information Security Officer position within the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department is responsible for providing vision and leadership in developing and supporting security initiatives. This role involves directing the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems and business operations to protect against security breaches and vulnerabilities. The officer will audit existing systems and oversee the administration of security policies and standards, ensuring the organization’s security posture aligns with industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in organizing and implementing IT security plans and initiatives.
  • Experience in planning, development, and executing security policies and standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of technology environments, including information security and physical security.
  • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications.
  • Good understanding of computer systems characteristics and integration capabilities.
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles.
  • Superior understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving security problems.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to security.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic security planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing defense initiatives.
  • Develop and communicate security strategies and plans to executive team, staff, and end-users.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans, procedures, audits, and enhancements.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee enforcement of policies and procedures for system security administration and user access.
  • Define and communicate corporate plans, procedures, policies, and standards for security systems and technologies.
  • Act as advocate and primary liaison for the county's security vision with executives and department heads.
  • Collaborate with the IT department on corporate technology development to secure information and systems.
  • Recommend and implement changes in security policies in accordance with local or federal law changes.
  • Assess and communicate security risks associated with county practices.
  • Promote and oversee strategic security relationships with internal and external entities.
  • Remain informed on trends and issues in the security industry and advise management accordingly.
  • Provide cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.
