About The Position

The Information Security Officer is responsible for overseeing the District-wide cybersecurity compliance and operations, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information technology systems. This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing cybersecurity measures while serving as a subject matter expert on information privacy and risk management. The officer will lead technical teams, develop security policies, and manage cybersecurity risks, all while collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the District's security posture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in Information Security.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of information technology controls and risk frameworks.
  • Broad working knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements related to information security.
  • Extensive experience in information privacy and security leadership.
  • Experience in developing and adopting information security policies and standards.
  • Knowledge of security architectures and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Experience managing information security risk programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Reputable industry-related certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GSLC, CEH.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and update of information security and privacy policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity program by identifying and analyzing security threats.
  • Implement processes to continuously monitor District software and systems for vulnerabilities.
  • Lead and participate in complex projects to protect District information assets.
  • Provide functional supervision to District staff involved in cybersecurity projects.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks and respond to third-party audit observations.
  • Review cybersecurity vulnerabilities and conduct periodic penetration testing.
  • Develop periodic reports and dashboards on controls, compliance, and risk posture.
  • Lead and maintain District-wide cybersecurity training.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for information security incidents and violations.
