About The Position

The IT Support Intern position serves as the initial point of contact for troubleshooting hardware, software, laptops, printers, networks, and peripheral issues. The technician must provide routine and emergency support to end users on a variety of topics. Responsibilities for the position include identifying, researching, and resolving user issues, documenting, tracking, and monitoring problems to ensure timely resolution. The ability to recognize and escalate priority issues and translate technical terms into non-technical language is critical to the success of this role. This position has frequent contact with laptop end-users, peers, and managers. The technician must exercise independent judgment, as well as demonstrate a continuous positive attitude and be a team player.

Requirements

  • Ability to build rapport and elicit security details from employees.
  • Knowledge of Linux, Mac OSX, Windows, Google Workspace, iOS, Android, VirtualBox, Okta, and other security tools.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and abilities, particularly the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Knowledge of computing and networking hardware and peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to learn, install, configure, and maintain various computer system software.
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing and full-stack web services and their defense.
  • May require weekend or late evening work in response to the needs of the systems being supported.
  • Ability to be self-sufficient as a Security team member, yet recognizing when to reach out for guidance or assistance.
  • AS Degree or Professional certifications such as Sec+ and a genuine enthusiasm for technology.

Responsibilities

  • Answer staff questions using our JIRA ticket system on all security related requests.
  • Research user questions using available information resources and assist in completing requests for information.
  • Investigate security concerns, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test, implement and document resolutions for future reference.
  • Monitor security tools to triage anomalous events and escalate as needed.
  • Perform work organizing data and preparing it for use in audits and reports.
  • Participate in meetings and planning sessions.
  • Assist in documenting security standards.
  • Understand the complexity and interdependencies of the various systems, applications, and infrastructure deployed in support of information security.
  • Follow all confidentiality and ethics policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
