The Information Security Engineer II plays a critical role in assessing the IT security architecture of the organization to identify vulnerabilities and design flaws. This position is responsible for administering security controls and conducting assessments to prevent security incidents. The engineer will work closely with various business units to provide guidance on security design and planning for the credit union's networks and technology infrastructure. This role requires a proactive approach to enhance the security of existing technologies, including network security, malware protection, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS). Additionally, the engineer will research and identify new technologies to ensure optimal system security. In this position, the engineer will also be tasked with developing, reviewing, and maintaining clear application and process documentation that aligns with departmental standards. Coordination and successful implementation of applications, network, and infrastructure systems are essential, along with the ability to identify and troubleshoot performance issues and functionality gaps. The engineer will collect and publish IT metrics, using data to recommend process improvements and assist in the development of security standards for the credit union. Furthermore, this role includes providing 24/7 support with rotating on-call duties after hours, adhering to predetermined service expectations.
