The Information Security Analyst - Identity Management at the University of Vermont is responsible for analyzing operational data to support the Information Security Office's mission. This role focuses on identifying and remediating threats to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information within the university's information ecosystem. The analyst will administer digital identities, authorize access to services, and handle policy violations. Additionally, the position involves participation in the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team and collaboration with other staff members while maintaining strict confidentiality and security protocols.

  • Conduct analyses of operational data to support the Information Security Office's mission.
  • Identify and remediate threats to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.
  • Administer digital identities for University-affiliated individuals and authorize access to services.
  • Handle policy violations and abuse complaints related to identity management.
  • Participate in the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT).
  • Provide functional supervision to student employees in supporting roles.
  • Collaborate with other Information Security Office staff and report to the Director of Information Security.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality while exercising discretion in account management.
  • Bachelor's degree in cyber/information security or a related field plus recognized information security certification (or ability to acquire within one year).
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in technology support/information security analysis.
  • Understanding of technical concepts underpinning internet-connected enterprise services.
  • Effective written communication skills for producing procedural and incident documentation.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to instruct clients in basic account operations and common applications.
  • Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and support cases.
  • Proficiency with common productivity applications and command line interfaces in Windows, macOS, or Linux.
  • Professional experience in cybersecurity incident response, endpoint/network forensics, or continuous security monitoring.
  • Ability to produce admissible documentation and maintain evidentiary chain of custody.
  • Experience with cyber threat intelligence platforms.
  • Experience in constituent education/outreach and proficiency in remote instruction.
  • Web publishing experience.
  • Familiarity with securing cloud-based email, file storage, and applications.
