For more information, please visit our website today! Summary Statement This is the first level of information resources work. This position serves as a liaison between the Delaware Public Archives (DPA) and various state agencies. The incumbent provides records and information management expertise to assigned agencies, including training agency staff, conducting site visits to evaluate and assist with records management practices, verifying the integrity of incoming files for archival preservation, and ensuring compliance with the Delaware Public Records Law and DPA policies.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  • Knowledge of research which includes systematic study to discover or establish facts.
  • Knowledge of archives, records management or library services.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a Bachelors Degree or higher in History, Library Science, Political Science or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Examines, identifies, arranges and classifies books/documents/electronic tapes/media/publications/records according to a pre-determined classification system.
  • Develops item descriptions noting content, format/media, arrangement and relation to provenance/origin.
  • Assists patrons/researchers by explaining the facility's resources, gathering available information/materials and demonstrating equipment operation.
  • Applies conservation and preservation techniques to aged or damaged books/ documents/electronic tapes/records by unfolding, cleaning, repairing tears, removing tape, placing in acid free containers, filming, refilming, media/technological migration.
  • Attends workshops, conferences and seminars to receive training related to the identification, care and maintenance of books/documents/records held by public agencies and accessible to the general public.
