About The Position

The Johnston County Public Health Department has a full-time Information Processing Assistant I position open. Position is responsible for reviewing and submitting claims to Medicaid, IPRS, Medicare, and commercial insurance plans; IPRS enrollments are completed and updated as needed; ensuring correct reimbursement is received; posting/reconciling insurance payments; work denials/resubmit claims. Coordinate with medical staff to ensure proper coding is used. Communicates with insurance companies and other outside entities to implement billing system changes and updates. Verifying insurances. Communicates with patients regarding insurances and accounts. Audit patient accounts for bad debt write off and set off annually. Ensure provider and clinician credentialing is updated as needed. Other billing duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of the principles of data input, processing and output
  • General knowledge of the hardware and software utilized
  • Ability to type for data entry
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work under time constraints and other demands
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Graduation from high school and two years of office support experience including one year in a data processing environment such as data entry or data control; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Specific knowledge of the particular hardware and software utilized may be required
