About The Position

The Information Management Specialist will serve in the Executive Secretary of the Office of Naval Research, focusing on records management activities. The role involves developing long-range records management program plans, ensuring compliance with electronic recordkeeping regulations, and advising on the effectiveness of the records management program.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11/12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience resolving complex substantive record management problems to improve operational efficiency.
  • Experience developing record management policies in conformance with rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience conducting studies and performing workflow analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of recordkeeping operations.
  • Experience recommending the implementation of technologies or practices with strong cost/benefit considerations.
  • Experience structuring a record management program that includes both electronic and manual recordkeeping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of long-range records management program plans.
  • Ensure permanently valuable information is preserved and that all other information is retained, reviewed, and disposed of systematically.
  • Interpret higher authority guidance regarding the implementation of new record-keeping systems.
  • Perform ongoing reviews to determine compliance with electronic recordkeeping regulations and recommend alternatives as needed.
  • Develop and keep current local records management guidelines, policies, and procedures for the management of the ONR records program throughout their life cycle.
  • Perform analysis and advise on the effectiveness and management efficiency of the ARCIS program.
