About The Position

The Information & Guest Services Representative at Hackensack Meridian Health plays a crucial role in welcoming guests and providing essential information about the Medical Center's services. This position is focused on ensuring a positive experience for visitors by responding to inquiries, directing guests, and maintaining a professional environment in the lobby areas. The representative is expected to handle various tasks efficiently while demonstrating strong communication and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Typing ability is required.
  • One to two years of working experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer training preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in a front desk/reception position or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all guests to the Medical Center by greeting them courteously and using proper non-verbal communication.
  • Respond to requests for directions accurately and provide wayfinding maps as needed.
  • Distribute visitor passes according to established policies and file returned passes appropriately.
  • Confirm patient locations and check nursing message logs for special privileges or restrictions.
  • Provide new vendors with Veri-rep cards and direct others to Veri-rep kiosks.
  • Direct conference participants to the correct areas and assist with inquiries.
  • Answer telephone calls within three rings using established greetings and provide assistance or take messages.
  • Enforce access control by advising guests of visiting policies and alerting security to violations.
  • Resolve operational challenges and guest complaints using positive problem-solving approaches.
  • Maintain accurate monetary exchange for newspaper sales and coordinate deliveries of mail and gifts.
  • Escort patients to assigned areas and assist with patient sign-ins and confirmations.
  • Communicate service requests to Environmental Services and Plant Operations for lobby maintenance.
  • Explain parking fee structures and discount programs to guests.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all departments to provide excellent service.
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings, keeping up with intra-hospital communication.
  • Complete all beginning and end of shift procedures to ensure service consistency.
  • Respond to emergency situations according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information as per Medical Center policies.
  • Ensure a clean and organized Information Desk at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and managers.
