About The Position

The Information Desk Technician at Exelon plays a crucial role in managing and disseminating information regarding system events and interruptions in service to customers. This position involves monitoring the Exelon distribution system, providing timely updates to various departments and agencies, and assisting dispatchers in daily operations. The technician is expected to work extended hours, especially during emergencies, ensuring effective communication and documentation of system status and events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • General knowledge of the electrical distribution system.
  • Demonstrated skills in establishing objectives and achieving results.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts and respond to emergencies 24/7.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during storms or energy delivery emergencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a technical field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, PassPort, OMS/SCADA, CIMS, and ARCOS.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge changes and system events on the Exelon distribution system that cause interruptions of service to customers.
  • Disseminate information regarding system events through alphanumeric paging, databases, and web platforms.
  • Provide updates on the status of events and communicate this information to relevant departments and agencies.
  • Answer information requests from internal departments and external agencies concerning system status and estimated restore times.
  • Document system events and status using various databases and web pages, and initiate work orders for repairs.
  • Generate and analyze reports regarding performance metrics and storm data for management.
  • Deploy and track generators on the distribution system, organizing security coverage and fueling schedules.
  • Assist dispatchers with technical issues related to computers and applications.
